May I get some low salt recipies
Great question @Deb Lekey! Do you have any restrictions for what you can eat? Any allergies or foods you avoid? That might help people figure out what to recommend 😊
Hi @Deb Lekey - everyone takes different approaches to low sodium recipes. Many people take regular recipes and alter them using all low sodium ingredients. For example, if you want to make chili, you might buy no salt added kidney beans instead of regular kidney beans and use no salt added canned diced tomatoes instead of regular canned diced tomatoes. You might also use a chili powder for seasoning that doesn't have any salt in it. (There are many places that sell no salt added spices and seasoning blends. You might want to check out Marshalls Creek spices for their no salt items- https://www.pureandnaturalspices.com/). Other people prefer to have recipes that are written as low sodium. Dick Logue is the author of several low sodium cookbooks. Here is a link so you can see three of his cookbooks on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/500-Low-Sodium-Recipes-flavor/dp/1592332773
Also, if you are on Facebook, there is a low sodium lifestyle group called Shakin' The Salt. People are posting recipes and meal ideas daily in that group. The recipes are also in the files in the group page.
I am happy to provide you some specific recipes if you let me know some things that you would like recipes for-
Hi @Deb Lekey! I am checking in to see if you have had success with finding some low sodium recipes you like. I had something new that I enjoyed last night. Grilled chicken parmesan made with fresh tomato slices and fresh mozzarella. Grill or bake boneless skinless chicken breast with you favorite Italian herbs- either a blend, orgegano or basil will work nicely. When the chicken is done, top with thinly sliced tomato and some thin slices of fresh mozzarella cheese and return to the oven until cheese is melted. Fresh mozzarella has less sodium than regular mozzarella. I use BelGioios brand which is about 80 mg per ounce. It is not quite the same a traditional chicken parm but the flavors are great and I really enjoyed it.
